Life can take its toll on a woman’s breasts. From pregnancy to nursing to weight gain and loss, the effects of gravity and the natural loss of skin elasticity over time often cause breasts to sag. When an individual seeks to reverse this process, one surgical option to consider is a breast lift. Each woman’s situation and needs are different and Dr. Whetstone will carefully explain his recommendations and your options.
WHAT IS A BREAST LIFT?
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure that reshapes breasts that have changed from aging, gravity or pregnancy to give them a more youthful look. Whether or not you have a breast lift with or without augmentation, you can expect an improved silhouette. A breast lift can be performed with or without an implant. Both saline and silicone implants are available and safe for breast lift and augmentation surgery. You will select an implant after a thorough discussion about which is the appropriate choice to meet your goals and expectations.

RECOVERY AFTER BREAST LIFT
Recovery from a breast lift is different for every woman, as each patient heals differently. After surgery, you will be placed in a a supportive bra and dressings will be applied to your incisions.
You can expect some discomfort that can be treated with prescribed pain medication. Patients are normally able to return to work after a few days and back to the gym in two weeks. Before surgery, you will be given specific postoperative instructions to follow for a smooth recovery.
RESULTS FROM BREAST LIFT
The results are immediately visible but the final results will appear over the next few months as everything settles. The scars are permanent but will continue to fade over time. The results will be long lasting but over time your breasts can continue to change due to age and gravity.
